Jacob Dykes, PhD

Assistant Professor and Extension Wildlife Specialist at Texas A&M AgriLife Center at Corpus Christi

Jacob Lee Dykes is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Wildlife Sciences at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Jacob’s doctoral research focuses on the influence of heat stress on white-tailed deer behavior, resource selection, and competition on the East El Sauz Ranch. His research methods include live capture, wildlife tracking, and microclimate monitoring to evaluate different aspects of deer ecology and management. He has broad research interests in community ecology and wildlife/ habitat management.

Jacob is originally from Amory, Mississippi. He received both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture from Mississippi State University. Upon completion of his doctoral research, Jacob plans to work in Extension where he can lead research and contribute to the improvement of wildlife management.
